In Romans 5:5 Paul declares that “hope does not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us”.
Love, a fruit of the Spirit, is the greatest gift from God. We cannot show the true agape love that God desires from us without the indwelling and leading of the Holy Spirit. This sacrificial and unconditional love fills our hearts and considers the needs of others more than our own personal needs. Whenever we experience doubt and confusion about true love, we need to only look at the example of love that God showed for us through His Son, Jesus Christ. As God’s children, we must be a reflection of His love, that is only consistent by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Father, we thank You for Your love shown to us and that You reflect through us. We pray that You will help us to likewise exhibit Your love for others. May they experience Your love and come to learn of Your deep compassion for the world. Amen!
